Strawberry Festival

My uncle Dave passed away from lung cancer last Fall. He was diagnosed March of 2007 and the cancer had already spread to his brain. He died September 8, 2007. I know that whenever people pass away, their loved ones talk of how special they were. People talked of how special Uncle Dave was when he was living. He was the funniest man, with an incredibly kind heart. He lit up our family gatherings with his wit, charm and animated story-telling. He will be missed enormously at all our gatherings but the annual Strawberry Festival in Owego was one of his faves. He commandeered the first annual daiquiri judging contest that will be continued for years to come. This year's festival was on June 21st. We wore our hats and t-shirts proudly while sipping daiquiris and eating ALOT of food. We felt his presence at various points throughout the weekend but most prominently, when his 3 darling grandchildren were featured on Fox news at 10:00. Out of the hundreds of children wandering around the festival grounds, the news program picked Jake, Skyler and Julia to post on their news program. I mean they are extremely charming and good looking children but STILL. Cool huh??
